On date 18.12.12, Loco No.28490 had come to ELS/TATA for IB inspection.Sri Jha was performing the routine checking as per IB schedule.Incidentally he found that the CBC knuckle pin housing and Yoke were cracked on both Top and bottom. This was not in the schedule but due to his intelligence and sincerity in working he would notice the crack which has avoided a major line failure and accident. In total he has so far detected 4 Nos. Sri Vinod Kumar working as DEE/TRS/TATA is a very responsible, obidient, efficient and an outstanding Officer. He is always very prompt towards his duty. He always takes his own initiatives to take decisions regarding improvement of the outage of locomotives, failure investigations and he always gives innovative ideas for over all development of the shed.By his dedicated efforts outage of Major schedule has improved and unscheduled arising of locomotives has also deduced.
Sri Vinod Kumar is looking after the Major Electrical and Mechanical section of the shed.It is seen that since last three years the working of these section has improved drastically and the failure ratio has also come down by 31% and at the same time the arising of locomotives reduced by 35%. It has been possible due to his Super checking of the locomotives and also counselling to the Staff/Supervisors of the section.
The work of provision of additional BP Angle cork was initiated as per modification received from RDSO. Total 169 locomotives have been completed in a period of 9 months underhis able guidance. This work was completedcompleted in time under his guidance.Further TAOCHI conversion work has expedited since last three years.Sri Vinod has taken lots of effort for arranging material from other shed/Workshop and firms forTAOCHI Conversion.
LOCOTROLL in WAG-9 Loco has been recently introduced for the first time in the History of Indian Railway. This project was given to the firm M/s. ARC Limited,Bangalore who were supposed to commission this project in coordination with CLW/CRJ and ELS/TATA.Sri A.K.Bhandekar, SSE was nominated for the Trail and commissioning of this project from ELS/TATA side.Number of Trials runs was conducted between NOMD-ADTP sections of Chakradharpur division.
Initially for opening of DJ at Neutral section was through RFID tag by putting it ON before and after neutral section which required lot of RFID tags and manpower to provide it on Neutral section and reliability of RFID tag was also poor.To overcome this Sri Bhandekar came with a very good idea that the opening of DJ should be done through distance calculation based logic accordingly the software modification was carried out by the firm and trial done successfully.Due to this Railway will be able to save a huge amount on RFID Tags and manpower required for provision of RFID tags. There was also be savings on Power Block as it would not be required. Further due to distance calculation logic lowering of pantograph in slave loco can be easily be done in Emergency situation by some modification in software, which is not possible in RFID based system.
Commissioning of 11 Nos. WAG-9 locos done successfully under his supervision.Lot of problems troubles have been solved by himand replacement of major equipments like Power convertor, transformer has been successfully carried out under his supervision. In additionhe also is working on another electronic equipment like VCD, MPCS, STC in conventional locos.
Sri B.K.Rajak, Technician Gr.II is a very sincere and hard working staff. He is deputed to look after the AOH works of Loco Transformers.Earlier for AOH of loco transformers two staff were being deputed and it used to take 3 days to complete the work.Since last one year this work is independently being done by Sri Rajak and he complete the entire work alone in only 2 days. This has saved the cost of 4 mandays.
Similarly for IOH of loco transformers, it was a practice to depute 2 staff for 5 days. But Sri Rajak with the assistance of one staff is able to complete the entire work of IOH of Loco transformer in only 3 days.He has saved manpower and man days.Approximately 100 locos have been undertaken for IOH and AOH during the last one year.No failures have been reported on this aspect .
Sri Rajesh Prasad is presently working in Wheel Shop where he is looking after the TAOCHI conversion, Assembling, rediscing of Wheels. As per earlier practice TAOCHI conversion was being done at POH Workshop at the time of POH of the locomotive.Since 2010-11 TAOCHI conversion work has been taken up at CTRC/TATA with the help of materials from KPA, KGP & other workshop over Indian Railway.During the last 3 years 30(thirty)Nos. Loco sets have been converted into TAOCHI. All these are working without any defects successfully. One new 400T Wheel press machine has been commissioned at CTRC/TATA during 2011-12.Sri Prasad has contributed a lot for its successful commissioning and is working satisfactorily. Till date 700 wheel sets have been turned out and same has been served to other Railway also.
Sri Manoj Kumar Mondal, Technician I of Electric Loco Shed has shown examplery skills and promptness in saving loco outage.WAG-9 Locos are a new additon to ELS/TATA holding.M&Ps required for maintenance of these locos are not readily available in the shed.Loco No.31342 arrived in the shed on 12.11.12 with a defect BS/MUB short circuit of Traction convertor-1 and needed replacement. The lifting tackle of Traction convertor was not readily avaiable at ELS/TATA.Demand for procurement of this item had been sent to the stores departmentbut had not been materialised .In order to turn out the loco from the shed alternative arrangements were explored. Sri Manoj Kumar Mandal was asked to build a SR tackle.Sri Mandal fabricated this tackle with the inhouse resources which was similar and as good as the tackle available in other sheds.
In the second instance the Transformer Lifting Lowering arrangement of WAG-9 loco was also not available in the shed and similarly for this item also procurement action was pending with the Stores department. Sri Mondal was asked to fabricate the Transformer lifting lowering arrangement by referring to the drawings collected from ELS/AQ.This was also successfully done by him.
The efforts and enthusiasm put by Sri Manoj Kumar Mondal has also solved the problems in maintaining the state of Art technology based locos like WAG-9 . This has not only savedtime andmoney but at the same time ensured the reliability of the loco outage.
Sri B.Murmu, Sri Sanjeev Kumar and Sri M.N.Prasad are involved in making the Axles for the TAOCHI locos.During this financial year this gang have made 112 Nos. of for 34 Bogies. They take all the parameters during the fitment of the thrower rollers and Axle box fitment. They have done an excellent job in their field. No failures have been reported on these TAOCHI locos.
