SER ORGANIZES WOMEN’S DAY DURING QUAMI EKTA WEEK

Kolkata, Nov.24, 2017 :

            As a part of all other activities of Quami Ekta Week, the Women’s Day was observed this morning (24.11.2017) at S E Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach with a seminar titled “The importance of women in Indian Society and Their Role in Development of Nation Building”.

            Shri Anirban Datta, Addl. General Manager, South Eastern Railway graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Smt. Zareena Firdausi Chief Personnel Officer and other prominent speakers and lady staff  & officers attended the programme and spoke about  women activities in the Society and in the Nation Building. The auditorium was packed mainly with woman employees.

             Addl. General Manager while speaking at the seminar said that women have continued to contribute to social, economic, cultural and political achievements.  Their participation in every sphere is inescapable in leading the country to a greater height. He also stressed o­n the basic problems of women in the society and added that measures are to be adopted for more empowerment of the women in the society. Each of women can be a leader within their own spheres of influence and commit to take pragmatic actions to accelerate gender parity. 

            Almost all the prominent lady speakers talked about women empowerment, girl education, evils of female foeticide and mal-nutrition of women. 

            Smt. Binita Mitra, Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer(WST), and some other women employees of various departments of South Eastern Railway Headquarters also spoke o­n the occasion.

            Women’s Day was also observed at four Divisions i.e Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi of South Eastern Railway to encourage the women employees to do more works in railway sphere upholding their dignity and security.
